Good food is an important part of feeling at home, and at Te Hira our catering team prepares delicious, home-cooked meals tailored to each resident’s individual tastes and dietary needs.
We take the time to understand what our residents enjoy. Our Care Manager regularly meets with residents to discuss their preferences, dislikes, and any dishes they would like to see added to the menu, ensuring everyone has a voice in what they eat.
Our kitchen is open 24 hours a day, and all staff are trained in food safety. Whether it’s a hearty meal, a light snack, or something specific to satisfy a particular craving, we are always ready to meet our residents’ appetites — at any time of day or night.
At Te Hira, mealtimes are about more than nutrition; they are about comfort, choice and enjoyment.
At Te Hira, our dedicated Activity Coordinator creates a varied and meaningful programme designed to encourage social inclusion, friendship and engagement among our residents.
All activities are person-centred, reflecting individual interests, abilities and preferences. From jigsaws and games such as Connect 4, to knitting, gardening, arts and crafts, and sensory activities like shape sorting, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
We also support our residents’ health and wellbeing with regular visits from a hairdresser and chiropodist, as well as manicure sessions and gentle movement activities that promote mobility and overall wellbeing.
Celebrating special moments is an important part of life at Te Hira. We mark Christmas, birthdays and other significant occasions throughout the year — including events such as Lent and Valentine’s Day — with parties, shared activities and festive decorations that bring warmth, joy and a true sense of community to our home.
At Te Hira, every day is an opportunity to connect, create and celebrate together.
